About UGSIIF

Background

UGS Impact Investment Forum-(UGSIIF) is a non-profit organization founded 2021 by Ugandans in Switzerland to bridge the investment gap for Ugandans living in diaspora to maximize the positive impacts of remittances on development.

UGSIIF strategy aims to change the way the diaspora invest, transfer resources, technology knowledge, skills to their home countries and drive, inclusive economic growth, job creation and the reduction of poverty in communities by investing in medium and longer-term structures and build a safety net for sustainable wealth transferable to the next generation.

It offers unique public forums for discussions on sustainable impact investment opportunities in Switzerland and Uganda with a mission of identifying investment opportunities and solutions that will shift diaspora investment infrastructure from individual to crowdfunding. Together, we’re changing the way the diaspora world invests.

UGSIIF is where change makers build bridges to mobilize for impact. We believe strong diaspora investments in small and medium sized enterprises in countries of origin is the best source of sustainable financing that will promote the development of the private sector and social enterprises, stimulate communities and groups such as youth and women to invest, generate wealth, address migration challenges and end hunger and poverty in the world.

Forum Goals & Objectives

  • Goal 1: Reinvent impact investment of Ugandans living in Switzerland and envision a future where all members of the forum are financially stable and hold the power to improve their lives through impact investment by unlocking investing potential through crowdfunding.
  • Goal 2: Raise Awareness of the value of investment
  • Goal 3: Ensure a sustainable investment stream for the members
  • Goal 4: Raise the profile of East African region and promote investment opportunities
  • Goal 5: Partner with Uganda and Switzerland and local organizations to identify investment needs

Forum Objectives

  • Contributing to the self-mobilization and empowerment of diasporas by providing a space for sharing, coordination, and collaboration.
  • Mobilize diaspora capital for investment into public, private projects and organizations through fundraising campaigns and crowdfunding
  • Identifying business-driven investment opportunities and solutions for the sustainable investment growth of the diaspora community which will create jobs and contribute to better incomes of citizens.
  • Member of UGS Impact Investment Forum will be able to use the platform to share knowledge and network with each other diaspora experts.
  • UGS Impact Investment Forum will also focus on identify skilled Ugandans in diaspora to partner with the government and participate in voluntary programs to foster transfer of skills, knowledge, and technology to all Ugandans.
